Thousands of Islamic apps, and good intentions behind almost all of them. I’m trying to understand what actually helps people live their deen, not just read about it. I’m asking the uncomfortable questions in public, and building along the way.
new Quran, prayer and dua apps launched on the App Store this year. More than half have no ratings yet.
of Google Play installs go to just 50 apps out of the 751 I found.
dua apps with 35M installs combined. The biggest one is a tasbeeh counter.
of installs go to the 306 apps launched since 2025. 71% of them have under 10k installs.
| Google Play, by type | Apps | Installs |
|---|---|---|
| Quran | 261 | 636M |
| Prayer, adhan, qibla | 156 | 697M |
| Dua, dhikr, tasbih | 180 | 35M |
| All-in-one | 82 | 358M |
| Other Islamic | 72 | 79M |
| Total | 751 | 1.8B |
How I got these numbers: 34 searches (quran, salah, namaz, qibla, dua, azkar, tasbih and more) across Google Play in 6 countries and the App Store in the US, UK and Saudi Arabia. Install counts are Google Play’s own; Apple doesn’t publish downloads, so App Store figures use launch dates and ratings. Store search only shows a limited set of results, so the real totals are higher.
Reading about sabr doesn’t make you more patient. Where are the tools that help you actually act on it?

I’ve spent the last ten years building startups, including co-founding Country Chicken Co. Now I’m building infra for Faith Tech.
I’m not a scholar and I’m not an expert. I’m a builder who has used Islamic apps for fifteen years and still can’t say what they changed. So I’m researching the space, sharing what I find, and talking to the people building it.
If you’re building in faith tech, I’d love to hear from you.
What’s being built, what the numbers say, and the questions nobody is asking yet. No spam, no selling.
